Value Your Spirituality

          In the past couple of years here in this conscious awareness spirituality has fallen away. It began with The Great Deflation when all spiritual symbols, ideas, and experiences went fooomp as all the bloated air went out of them. This includes ideas like God, Christ, Holy Spirit, divinity, holiness, etc. Mystical experiences, like oneness and episodes of spiritual light filling the mind, were recognized to have been puffed up by ego and granted inappropriate significance. The deflation brought relief that it wasn’t even known here was necessary or possible. What was left was simple, ordinary, lovely consciousness—truth—without puffery or bells or whistles.

What this revealed was how ego takes information from truth, or the onlyness that is pure consciousness, coming to conscious awareness and turns it into something it can understand and that validates it. The experiences themselves signal the presence of truth, but the bloat is ego making more of them than they mean. For example, oneness experienced in a moment with another does not signal anything significant about that relationship. Whatever is appearing when oneness is experienced is incidental. At most, these experiences are symbolic, just as the mind shifts and sees more synchronicity and coincidences and patterns as true oneness—the one and only that is truth—approaches conscious awareness. What is seen is not important. That a connection is seen signals the mind making representations of oneness that is felt but not wholly understood.

This mind sees what is really occurring and records them in these articles but do not think that what is being implied is these experiences should be tossed away along with spirituality and spiritual symbols. Spirituality, spiritual symbols, practice, insights, and experiences all indicate the presence of truth. They might only be expressions, but what they represent is significant. While ego is around, it will inevitably blow them out of proportion, usually in some way that validates itself, but that is temporary just as ego is temporary. They only become an obstacle to peace when they are chased for themselves. Then they become idols, like any symbol that is revered in place of what it is meant to symbolize.

So, it is not wrong or foolish to value your spirituality, to pursue it, or to express it, even considering what is recorded here about what it really is. It is an expression that will be expressed anyway, so do not turn against it and in the process turn against yourself. Let it unfold as it will and if there comes a time when it falls away for you, too, then so be it. And if that never happens, so be that as well. A life that symbolizes the presence of truth is generally better than one that does not.

If you’ve been reading my blog/newsletter for the past few weeks then you know significant things have occurred in the life of this mind. Four years ago the ego (personal thought system) fell away. Ask: What if someone's request is harmful?

More on Emotional Satisfaction or Freedom
