How Do I "Accept the Atonement" for Myself?

The sole responsibility of the miracle worker is to accept the Atonement for himself. (T-2.V.5)

The above statement lays out your purpose in the world. Yet how do you go about “accepting the Atonement”?

Atonement in the Course means correction of the perception that you are separate from God. This perception is manifested in your identification with the ego. You correct this perception by identifying with God in your mind – Christ/Holy Spirit. You do this by learning to hear and follow the Holy Spirit and so learn that the Holy Spirit is you. The more you do this the quicker you learn the ego is the foreigner in your mind and is not you.

You accept the atonement by learning to transform each experience of seeming separation into one of healing your sense of separation from God. For example, you consciously remember that since everything you see is in your mind, and God is in your mind, then God is in everything you see. You accept the Atonement by choosing to see Christ instead of a body/ego.

You accept the atonement by putting aside time each day to commune with God and thereby correct your sense of separation from God. You accept the atonement each time you stop what you are doing during the day to take a moment to remember and to connect with God.

In other words, you accept your one responsibility by doing one thing: Remembering you are Part of God.

Is the word Atonement(?)...as if there is an illusion to be corrected, or is the concept more correctly(?) At-One-Ment ...the true perception of your wholly spiritualness? At one with GOD and your brothers.

For me it's been helpful to read Liz's plain language text.
Yes, At-one-ment is a great translation. I also find it helpful to replace Christ/Holy spirit with the word awareness and the word God with All that Is. So I remember to sense there's something in me that is always 'aware' of my egoic self. And then I remember that this 'awareness' is part of All that Is. This 'awareness' is the same in all of us. Just the separate egoic thoughts create the dualistic illusion.
I know words are just sounds we attach meanings to, but somehow certain words point better than others. For me, Liz says it best in her plain language version.
"At One Ment" with God. I must diligently set aside a period of time each and every day to spend quality time with God. Through out the day I must communicate with Him as if He's a good find escorting me to all my events and appointments. By finding out what God thinks and what He has to say concerning every encounter and decision I have to make, it frees me up to extend love in every situation.

For me this is where this familiar passage falls in;

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails

Thanks. I know this stuff, but it's good to see it clearly organized this way and the comments are helpful too. Namaste. 🙏🙏
