Feeling Unworthy?
The truth about you is so lofty that nothing unworthy of God is worthy of you. (T-9.VII.8)
One of the hardest concepts of the ego to overcome is the idea you have to make yourself worthy of God. This is just another way the ego teaches you that you made yourself. Of course, as Part of God you are wholly worthy of God! But watch your mind, notice your feelings. The idea that you have to earn God’s love is slyly interwoven throughout our experience in this world, and is greatly reinforced by the values in this world.
Here are some experiences you may have that indicate you do not feel worthy of God:
You need to “do” all the time because you feel you need to “earn” something.
You are busy, busy, busy and have no time for meditation and reflection.
You can’t feel good about yourself unless you are sacrificing in some way.
You cannot approach God in prayer or meditation.
You can’t even sit still to meditate.
You find excuses not to do the Workbook – not enough time, you don’t do the lessons perfectly, you don’t understand them, you forget to do them, etc.
You can’t concentrate when reading the Course.
You fall asleep when reading the Course.
You put off studying the Course for long periods of time.
You have a hard time accepting abundance in any for
You punish yourself – often in subtle ways – when good things happen to you.

i just sat down at the computer to do some more study after a wee bit of housework..i just 10 mins ago threw a bunch of stickers with 'earn' printed on them that i was collecting from the supermarket for my niece for her school.. (they were to collect stickers and get new school equipment). but i found this lot in a draw that didnt make their way to my niece. i read a couple of your blog posts, but the 'earn' thing didnt click after reading the above post.. it wasnt til i went on to study more of 'releasing guilt for inner peace' and came across this that it clicked what holy spirit was trying to get through to me!
"Guilt demands that you “earn” what is judged as good. If you do not earn it then you should “pay” for it afterward.
Anson’s first book was an instant best seller worldwide. He became wealthy off of it. His quick success is very rare for a writer and he unconsciously feels that he does not deserve it. So he does not manage his money well. He gives it away and spends it quickly.
You may feel guilty for undeserved “gifts” for which you are not responsible."
this is so convoluted. responsibility for others, sacrifice to their pains' needs to feel good about myself, having to earn being acceptable to myself, let alone acceptable to others. i even feel guilty for the help you give me liz, for the time it takes in your day! ive sometimes sit here hesitating before asking you something, even though ive noticed/felt you seem to follow an inner guidance on whether you respond to stuff on these blogs rather than from any sense of obligation or need to help, which is what gave me the 'courage' to just ask and/or express anyway.
i can see the projection of my own stuff onto you, obligation to help, feeling burdened by that. im ashamed that i dont naturally always want to be helpful.
